Frequently Asked Questions

Is this 1-on-1 tutoring?
Yes. Each lesson is one-on-one. There is only one student in each lesson.
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons take place online using Google Meet. I may also use an online whiteboard, shared documents, diagrams, or screen sharing depending on what is being taught. Notes and worked examples can be shared with the student after the lesson when appropriate.
How long is each lesson?
Most lessons are 1 to 2 hours long. The best length depends on the student’s grade, subject, attention span, and learning needs.
What will be taught in each lesson?
Each lesson is based on the student’s current needs. A lesson may focus on explaining school material, correcting misunderstandings, working through homework questions, practising problem-solving, preparing for a test, or reviewing difficult concepts from earlier units.
Do you give homework?
In many cases, yes. I may assign review questions or practice problems when extra practice would help the student retain what was learned. Homework is meant to reinforce understanding, not simply add more busy work.
Do you provide worksheets or learning materials?
Yes. I can provide worksheets, review questions, reference notes, and practice materials when they are useful for the student’s course and learning goals.
Can my child ask questions after class?
Students are encouraged to ask questions during the lesson. For substantial extra help outside lesson time, it is best to schedule another lesson so there is enough time to explain the material properly.
How many lessons should my child take each week?
Most students take one lesson per week. Some students take two lessons per week when they need more intensive support, are preparing for an important test, or are trying to catch up after falling behind.
How much are the lessons?
Please contact me for current availability and lesson rates.
Do you offer free lessons?
No. I do not offer free trial lessons. Families who would like to try tutoring can book one regular lesson first.
What are the cancellation and refund policies?
Please check the Policies page for details.
What language will lessons be conducted in?
Lessons are conducted in English.
What meeting tool will be used?
Google Meet is used for live online lessons. Other tools such as an online whiteboard or shared documents may be used when helpful.
What are the technical requirements?
A computer or laptop with a stable internet connection is required. The computer should have a microphone, speakers, and preferably a webcam. I strongly recommend keeping the webcam on during lessons because students are usually more engaged when there is face-to-face interaction.
What else should my child prepare?
Please prepare paper, pencils, erasers, and a calculator if needed for the course. For math and science lessons, it is often helpful for the student to write work by hand and show it on camera when needed.
Where should my child take the lesson?
I recommend that the student take the lesson in a quiet room with minimal distractions. TV, YouTube, music, games, phones, and unrelated chatting should be avoided during the lesson so the student can stay focused.
Is there a break during the lesson?
Yes. If the student needs a short bathroom break or a moment to rest, they can ask during the lesson.
