Frequently Asked Questions

Services

Where does tutoring take place?

We provide tutoring at our centre location (3015 Kennedy Rd. Suite 202, Scarborough ON), one of the many public libraries in Toronto, and at student's home.

What subjects do you tutor?

We currently offer tutoring in elementary and middle school level math, English (all levels), science (Gr 7 - 10 level), biology, chemistry, and physics.

What areas do you service?

We service Toronto, Etobicoke, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, and Markham.

Do you help students with their school work or do you tutor your own curriculum?

Roughly speaking, we offer 3 kinds of services. We help students with their school work by tutoring concepts and questions students didn't understand from school lessons or homework so that these students's school grades will improve. We also help students catch up on concepts and skills from earlier grades or tutor a subject ahead of the student's grade level. In these cases, we use our own program. In all types of tutoring, we tutor based on the Ontario Curriculum.

Do you give homework?

Yes. We know for a fact that practice is an important part of attaining mastery over a concept or a skill. Our tutors are instructed to give homework to students every session. Homework can be completed in 1 - 3 hours, but parents can request us to either increase or reduce the amount of homework our tutor assigns.

Do you provide tutoring at my home?

Yes, we do. Tutor can travel to your home and tutor your child at your home. When at-home tutoring takes place, please ensure that at least 1 adult related to the student is present.

Do you tutor on the weekdays / weekends?

Yes. On weekdays, we typically tutor after 4 pm. On weekends, we tutor between 9 am to 6 pm.

Do I need to provide my own materials such as textbooks and workbooks?

If your child is getting tutored on school lessons and materials, we ask that your child provides his or her school notes, handouts, and textbooks. If the tutoring is not based on your child's school lessons (e.g. catching up on earlier grades, studying in advance, SSAT or SAT tutoring), you don't need to provide any materials. Depending on the subject, there may be material cost ($10 - 20 per book) required.

Do you provide feedback after the tutoring?

Yes, our tutors provide monthly reporting on your child's progress. Our academic adviser will also keep in contact with our tutor and adjust the tutoring strategy, if necessary, to provide the best result.
